Gouranga Das is a Development Economist with particular interest in exploring the issues of growth and development in the context of the economies already integrated into the global trade and those, pursuing their efforts to catch up with the forces of globalization. Under the broad spectrum mentioned above, his specific research interest emphasizes on the issues related to: (i) Growth and Technological Change; (ii) Trade, International Economic Integration and Transmission of Technological Innovation; (iii) Human Capital Formation, Skill Acquisition and Adoption of Technology; (iv) Nexus of Trade, Technology and Environment in the wake of International Environmental Policy and Laws regulating trade flows. His research has a focus on economic policy issues in developing economies. His research explores issues such as, technology diffusion, absorptive capacity, factors underlying assimilation and its deficiency, and catch-up problems, skill-unskilled labor, biotechnology-biofuel trade-offs for food (in-) security, productivity dynamics, etc.
Currently, his research—in line with previous strands of published works—lies in firm heterogeneity, its sources, and productivity differences for heterogeneous firms; skill-unskilled wage gap and trade-versus-technology; trade and corruption; land deals and development problems; inclusive growth (selective aspects) and sustainability issues.
